When Toby first checks into the hospital, Masamune feels weird about it all. The gym feels emptier, less friendly. He goes, but it’s less and less. He starts training at the park, but it’s too much so he goes elsewhere.
It’s Zeo who finds him first as he’s buying a pack of spicy sticks at a street vendor. They don’t really say anything, walking together in silence for a while until Masamune offers him one of the sticks and Zeo burns his tongue. They laugh for all of a few seconds and it’s awkward and weird now without Toby, but at least they’re back to smiling. Zeo convinces him to come back to the gym. Masamune agrees that this is no time to give up on the dream.
“Number one!” they shout enthusiastically as they thrust their index fingers into the air, and it still feels weird and empty because one voice is missing, but they try to ignore that. They trudge themselves back to Dungeon Gym after that and get a massive scolding from the Coach, and they’re right back to where they left off — but this time without Toby.
I had to pause the episode for a couple minutes just to giggle at this.
